A quick call from my friend Brett on Friday night was enough for me and Jerry to get up at 3am, drive for 3 hours towards Portland and try to catch some Tuna. There is lots of tuna at the moment from Apollo Bay all the way to Portland and beyond. We where on the water at 7am, and it was freaking cold. We took of to 50m line around Julia Percy and no long in we had the first fish on. We kept trolling the area and it took about 30min for the next fish to play the game. After that, as Jerry was bleeding the fish we already had the 3rd and 10min later 4th fish in the boat. By 12 we where on the way out.

The fish are around 10kg only. They took the Halco Deep diver in blue and silver color first, then the king brown and the Samaki pilchard. Alll pretty small lures. We did not have a hook up on any skirts. The tuna is full of small white bait and krill (as per pic)

By 5.30pm we where back in Point Cook eating Sushi and tuna Steaks on BBQ
