2020 Jan 26th Fishing at Cape Schank
26 Jan – launched at Stony Point and head of thru western entrance towards Cape Shank. A bit ruff way out but as we got past Flinders and on open, the water was just brilliant. Fished in 40m in front of the light house, but no gummy or sign of kingy’s or tuna. We seen few fish in 10m depth, so Alex got on to first Slimy Mackerel. Then we got quiet few more and they where big. Some to 40cm. Small rig on the bottom keep getting Barber Perch and Jerry got a Sargent Baker. After few hours, the water start to cap a bit so we went back. The entrance this time was smooth as. We went to my spot in front of Rhyll, but, the mister seal was killing us. We got lots of undersized pinky’s and one KGW (first whiting for me in this spot). 20minutes in, the wind star to blow 40km/h so we took of towards somer for a bit of shelter. Here, we got few nice pinky’s, a Red Mullet and i got bitten of by some kind of toothy creature. It took of, and as i put pressure on it, it bitten 100lb leader just above the hooks.
By 3pm we where out.
Cheers, happy fisherman!
