2020 December 30th - Mud Island
This is my last post for this year – Mud island 30th Dec!
Left Rye boat ramp with Jerry and my puppy Chico at 8am and straight to mud island. Few days before fool moon so i was confident -Gummy Shark. Well did not happen. We got few stingrays, tons of banjos, gurnard, yakkas and some big slimmy but not the target fish. The weather did let us down a bit as the wind start blowing over 15knots 4 hours before Willy weather, fish ranger and bom predicted.
No gummy, didin’t bother us. The actual under water footage is what was impressive as at one stage it showed millions of Yakka’s. That is a good news as we plan to go saturday and sunday in rip chasing Kingfish.
Live Yakka is better that dynamite for Kingfish! So if you have live tank, pinnace channel is your best friend, 2m above the bottom, small patternoster with very small piece of squid or pilchard fillet. Don’t drop it on the ground as flatty’s will take it in no time.
Last – HAPPY NEW YEAR to ALL from me, Mima Jerry, Peter, Will Gafa, Ovi, Zoran, Old man JJ, Tas and all the HAPPY FISHERMAN that made my day each time we where out there. We love and respect you all and wish you all the best in 2021! Stay safe and look after each other!
