2019 November 24th - Port Phillip Bay Heads

Big day for us – Sunday 24 nov. I have to start with the end story. Fisheries doing a servo and he asked me “do you fish more then 5 times a year?”

Anyway, we left Werribee at 7am straight for the heads. We got ther on the slack, tried for a bit – donut. We moved to Queenscliff, but as per picture many boats where there chasing squid. We decided to get few Wrasse and head of to mud island. As we got there, parked, droped few lines in the water, the boat next to us was in trouble with his battery so we where there to help. As they where tying to get closer, my rod buckled (all on video to come). Well they had to wait a little bit longer as we landed a gummy on a Reedys Ultrarig in orange color, loaded with cubes of yakka.. They we started they boat and they went back to the ramp happy. In meantime we where getting nothing but small flatties. Was time to move. (when i got home and watched the under water footage i so another gummy heading for my bait, but i somehow managed to retrieve my bait at that moment).By 12.30pm we moved to squid spot. We got few, all nice size, and then we so tommy ruff under the boat, so Mima had the sabiki on and had some fun with them. By 1.30pm we where on the way to St Leonards. Here we managed few nice whiting, and we did trow back lots under-size one. The best setup was the running rig with 80-90cm leader loaded with cocktail – pippies secured with a small strip of squid. Lots of Leather Jackets, so you need to check your bait every 2 minutes. Around 2.30pm we had of back as the wind started to pick up. Cheers – happy fisherman
