In this episode, we head to Portland chasing tuna. While we were hoping to find some action close to shore, things were a bit quiet, so we pushed out to the continental shelf in search of better opportunities. Unfortunately, the bluefin and albacore tuna were nowhere to be found, so we shifted gears and decided to go deep dropping.
Deep dropping is a great alternative when the tuna aren’t around – it’s fun, easy for anyone to try, and the fish you catch are top-quality table fish. One of the best parts? You never quite know what you’re going to pull up, which makes it all the more exciting. We also take a moment to walk you through the gear we use – the rod, reel, battery setup, sinker, and the rig – to give you a better understanding of how to get started yourself.
In the second part of the episode, we head to Leopold for a solo session and check in with Mick from Hooked on Bait and Tackle, who gives us the latest update on “where the fish are” this week.
