Adventure 1: June 2024 – Chasing King George Whiting with Dave

In June 2024, Dave and I set out on a much-anticipated trip to Leopold, with our sights set on King George Whiting. The day started with a bit of uncertainty, as we had to move around a few spots before finally finding the right location. It felt like the fishing gods were playing hard to get, but after some persistence, we stumbled onto a promising patch.

Once we found the whiting, it was game on. The fishing was absolutely wild – every cast seemed to bring in another fish. It was one of those days where the action was non-stop, and the King George Whiting didn’t disappoint. The excitement was infectious, and we couldn’t help but marvel at how the fishing had turned from slow and uncertain to absolute madness.

As the sun began to dip, we could only look back at how lucky we were to have found such a hot spot. A true highlight for both of us!
Adventure 2: August 2024 – St Leonards with Mima

In August 2024, I headed to St Leonards with Mima, aiming for some quality King George Whiting action. We started out with high hopes, and soon enough, we were pulling in some solid whiting. But just as we were getting into a rhythm, something unexpected happened. A school of garfish showed up, and that shifted our focus in a big way.

Switching gears, we quickly adapted to the garfish, and the bite was fast and furious. In no time at all, we had landed a handful of them, but then, just as quickly as they appeared, the action came to a halt. The dolphins had arrived, and with their playful antics, they seemed to put an end to the feeding frenzy.

It was a bit of a mixed bag – the whiting were definitely there, but the garfish stole the show for a bit. Still, the whole experience was one to remember, with dolphins making a surprise appearance and adding a twist to our day on the water.
