2020 March 24th - fishing Port Phillip Bay
Today’s trip – Werribee straight-out 18km towards Mt Martha, we stopped.
Started setting up, and I just casted my favorite – Defy light rod with Shimano sustain 2500, 15lb braid, with 20 lb leader and snelled 1.0 Reddys outlaw circle hooks.
Half a slimy, tail half, and it had a very small ball sinker, so it took his time to get down – 20meters depth. I picked my second rod, setting it up with full silver whiting, and this noise went off.
It was 12.34 pm, we just dropped the anchor, and my light rod took of like no tomorrow. I grabbed it, and I thought to myself “not a chance”.
I knew it is a snapper, because of the shakes, but for the first time in my fishing carrier, I did not trust my rod.
Mima was filming and I had this disappointing look on my face.
It started to go strait for my anchor. Braid and anchor rope – not the best friends, but against all odds, 28 minutes later we landed the 4.1 kg red.
My comment was f….
All in all – that was the only fish for the day.
By 3pm we where out as I had few things to do.
