2019 October 1st fishing Mud Island and St Leonards

Here is another adventure from Tuesday when i took a friend of ours Ashim “the pharmacist” for a day on PPB. He loves his fishing and he does it Torquay way, so it was something different for him. We left 8am Werribee and got to Mud Island hour and a half before low tide. As we got there it was Monster Inc – Banjos, Port Jacksons and Diamond Ray. No sign of Gummy. After the tide change we took of in 6m chasing squid and that was successful. Not to big, but we managed to bag out. Solid black Jig again the best performer. As we had the bag limit we decided to go back to 12m spot and give another try for gummys. Well, no good again. Same story, the only difference is that this time we got few Gurnards. By 4pm we moved to St Leonards and to chase whiting. I moved few times in my usual spots, but no success. Then I decided to move close to the green stick in 5m depth. We had about hour before dark and we managed 24. Whiting was very fussy so i had a cocktail of pippie and little strip of squid on the running rig. After the sinker hit the bottom, we did a very very slow retrieve and that’s how we got them. Great day out as always. Got back by 7pm and it was cleaning time. More pics on my web site and there will be a short video of the day when I get a little bit of time to put it together. Cheers Happy Fisherman
